Hey Shawn, you hit it my man!!!

I did that group leader gig for The Experiment in International Living years ago and it was a great experience Big Grin

I often reminisce on this board about my 4 weeks living in Granada as a group leader for 13 American high school students, well, it was as a group leader for "The Experiment".

My group and I had a 4 week homestay in Granada and then I took them to Barcelona for a week as the summer program is (or at least was) composed of a weeks travel after the homestay. The program begins with an orientation in Madrid for a few days and then off to the host city for the homestay with host families.

Prior to the trip over to Spain, all successful group leader candidates (that is what they called us), had a 5 day (if memory serves me) "training camp" at the World Learning HQ in Brattleboro VT (a beautiful place). The training week was also a lot of fun and I met a ton of interesting people there.

The only slightly negative part of the job was the pay, salary (honorarium) was $500 for the 5 weeks back then and I see they still pay the same amount (inflation must not be in their vocab Wink ) but considering that room & board was paid for and the AMAZING time had and bonds made by all, the pay was the least important part of it all. Heck, I could have stayed on Long Island delivering pizzas that summer for $500/week Roll Eyes but money is not... ummm... everything Red Face

I would encourage peeps to apply for this job, it is a true EXPERIENCE. The application process is (or at least was) tough and it is pretty hard to get hired but if you make the cuts, you are in for a life-changing summer Smiler Big Grin Cool

Saludos,
jer...
