I'm so happy I found your site. I need some advice/help with my possible relocation to Madrid. I have been asked by my employer to relocate to Madrid. I live in the U.S but my employer will be sponsoring my visa. I'm very lucky to have this opportunity, especially at the age of 19. My problem is that I have no idea how to go about finding a place to live. I've never even been to Madrid. Although I do plan to visit before I decide to accept the job offer I want to be able to start looking for a place during my initial visit, assuming I like Madrid. I've heard that the public transit system is great so I need not worry about a car. Language isn't an issue since I'm a native Spanish speaker. I need some guidance. Any advice you could provide would be much appreciated. I'm very excited about this opportunity and I've heard so many great things about Madrid that it all just feels right.

Hey ricky, lucky lucky you! I personally know of many an "Americano" who would kill to be in your position.

As for apts. in Madrid, I canlead you to my apt. finding resources page at www.multimadrid.com/mm_interactive/links/apts.htm and wish you luck.

The best time of the year to look for a place is in July/August when there is a massive student exodus form the city and apt owners get desperate.

Saludos,
jer...

Madrid is a great place. And you heard right about the transportation system. I was there for an unforutnatly short time with a tour group, but was able to figure out the metro.

Even if I couldn't figure out the metro... I wouldn't want to try driving in Madrid... there seemed to be a lack of traffic laws as we know them.
