I used the search function and I didn't find anything on how to write a CV. Can you recommend a site (in english) or send me a sample CV? I'm applying for 2 different positions: -English teacher at a summer camp, and -"Manual labor" at an Irish pub. Muchas gracias, al noel

Thanks much, that was a helpful site. I noticed that the CV example did not include a picture. Anyone know if it is still normal practice to include a headshot in the upper right hand corner of your CV?
If you are technologically skilled, the picture can be embedded into the CV document. However, I have seen many CVs with a picture simply paper-clipped or stapled to them.
I would also recommend to the poster that they adjust their two CVs to match the jobs that theyre applying for. A friend of mine put his business experience down on his CV first and barely mentioned his (limited) teaching experience since the business experience was much more "impressive".
Well, after visiting several academies and watching the staff having to search his resume for his teaching experience, he changed the order (putting teaching first), deleted much of the content within his business section, and expanded on his teaching sections. His CV was much improved and academy staff finally knew where to look and what type of job he was looking for! Lesson learned - it does not hurt to be obvious.
Note, of course it also doesnt hurt to include any business-type experience as it may help you get a Business English teaching job!
Good luck with the job search!!

In case anyone is interested... There is a photographer named: Jose-Luis Caceres Calle del Correo, 4, 3-8 (Metro:Sol) Tel. 659-609-819 www.formaspress.com He offers a variety of resume / CV related services such as 40 pictures for 7 euros or 20 pictures for 4 euros. Photocopies, lamination, and other photo/art work. He also teaches photoraphy classes from time to time, but that is another story. Rocco.
Jose Luis the photographer speaks broken English... So broken you can't fix it. Seriously his prices are good and if anyone needs any translating help setting up something with him they can stop by the Spain Storage office next door from Monday to Friday and I will do a quick translation for them. I often use his photocopy services as a photocopy of everyones passport is required in order to use the storage service. Rocco.
I would not place a picture on a c.v. unless expressly required to do so,... and I know that some c.v. reviewers do not like it, but that's every one's choice. [If your personal appearance is not important for developing your work, I would not place a picture - I am ugly, but that does not interfere with my outstanding finance work ;-) ]

Max, your not making any sense. In Spain it is a requirement, not a choice of conscience, to have an identification card size photo attached to your CV reguardless of what you look like or your qualifications if you are looking for English Teaching work in Spain. Let me make this clear. If you want to submit your CV to someone in Spain in order for them to consider you for an English Teaching position or any other job dealing with the public / people you need to attach an ID size photo of your face on each one. Rocco.
:-) ... that's why I have got at least four different jobs without adding a picture to my c.v.
And one of them involved something I did not like: selecting people to fill a vacant in the company. As I had no experience, I contacted some acquaintances who had done so, and all of them did not like pictures on the c.v. All of them were "non professionals", but one was working in Randstat. And coming to my current job, I know that the Human Resources director does not like pictures on the c.v... while the two other directors who take part in the selection processes in my firms like them,... so, you never know. I would say it is personal choice, and not a must, and that depends on the kind of work you are going to do, as I said in my previous post: if you are going to be in contact with clients, then attach your picture; if you are going to be working in your office without meeting clients (like me, working in the Accounts dept.), then don't attach it. That's only my personal advice.
