I am writing a book on how to advise non EU citizens to move to Spain, find work, buy real estate, obtain health insurance, integrate themselves smoothly into the culture, etc.
And I need your help with this. I will copy below my basic outline for the book, and it would be great if could tell me what else I should include in it.
I. Introduction (Why move to Spain?) II. How to get a Residency Visa III. How to purchase/rent Real Estate IV. Health Care Issues and how to get coverage V. Work A. How to get a Work Permit B. How to Set up a Company in Spain C. Industries/Careers of Interest (Including Salary information) VI. Cost of Living A. Food B. Expenses (electricity, telephone, water, etc.) C. Transportation D. Bank Accounts and Services VII. Miscellaneous A. Culture B. Safety
Is there anything else a non EU citizen would need to know? If this is the case, please advise as to what else should included.
There are two things that are comming to my mind right now. The first one would be to tell in a few lines courious changes that and American will find here in Spain: The size of beds, the size of the roads, meters instead of feets, etc. There is a thread where some of you tell this different things: Different Things
The second one is more complex and maybe you could tell it in the Culture theme. It's the political situation in Spain: Political Teams that exists, their orientation "left / right" (I think that you call them Democrat / Republicans), Nationalism (BNG/PNV/EH/CIU) and the different idioms spoken here Galizian / Catalan / Basque / Valencian and the differences between a spanish speaker from Valladolid and a Spanish speaker from "Zevilla"
Bye!

Hey Endrigo, your book has the stuff that best sellers are made of
One thing I can think of that would be a nice addition is some first hand experiences of those non EU nationals who have made it or not here in Spain but who have at least tried. It is always good to put in first hand accounts, both positive and negative ones.
As for the outline, it looks pretty good to me.
Have you picked up any other books on moving to Spain or living and working here to get some ideas for yours? You know there are a few out there already but I am sure yours will be tops
If I think of anything else I will post it here on this thread as I am sure others will do.
Saludos, jer...
p.d. I assume that multimadrid.com will of course be appearing in the book
Yes there will be a mention of your site in the book
I did also write about your story, about the expat who stayed in Spain without health insurance and who got treated by the dermatologist. I hope you don't mind, I didn't mention any names
so far I am on page 49 of the book....with about 50 to go.
Thanks Endrigo, no problem on using that story. If you want I can give you that friends e-mail so you can ask him more about his experience with the medical coverage here for illegals. Just e-mail or private message me and I will send it to you. I am sure he would be glad to tell you more about his experience.
