hey all, I am sure this is covered on the forum, but after doing a search on medical, I just run into some dead links.

question: now i have my residencia, how/where do I go for the social seguridad card?

any clues?

Roland got his at the Social Security office right near metro Santo Domingo (plaza exit). Can't remember the name of the street that crosses right over to Corte Ingles, etc, but the ss office is right on that street. Took him one visit only. I think he might have even posted the details here on the board.

In fact: I think this is it?

jules is right but the address of the office roland got his at will do you no good. you have to go to the ss office that corresponds to your address.

Have you been "dada de alta en la seguridad social"? To do this Christian had to go to the Tesorería office on Calle de la Cruz (over by Plaza Santa Ana). He had to bring his certificate of empadronamiento (which he got from the ayuntamiento) and his passport. They gave him his social security number for work purposes.

Once you do this, then you can go to the centro de salud in your neighborhood (yours is probably the one on Embajadores). They say it takes 3-4 months to get the card, but once you are dada de alta you can make appointments and see doctors.
