I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I am finding so much contradictory information on the Net, I thought I'd ask it again!
My EU Czech passport now finally entitles me to equal EU rights in Spain as of May 2006. I looked at the Czech Embassy website and the only information they had was the good news that this is now the case and a line saying, Contact the nearest foreign police station for information on how to work etc. here. Great.
I suppose I ought to apply for an NIE first? Do I need a photo? Is it OK if I am wearing glasses. Where do I get the NIE form? DO I need a certified photocopy of my passport or do I just bring the original along. And most importantly where do I do all this, living in Madrid?!
afraid you will have to do some SEARCHES here on the board, as you said, this has been very much covered.
SEARCH for "NIE" or "residency" and read the threads.
one of the many is HERE . i just read through about 4 theads on work and residency that came up in my search results and they all state the same (or similar), i found no conflicting info.
some even offer links to the required documents online you can use.
you have to do your homework.
only question you have that is not already covered is...
quote:
"Is it OK if I am wearing glasses"
why would it not be?
and YES, bring the original passport as well as the copies.
I got my sweet Mexican roommate to help me fill it out and then printed it.
Woke up far too late today but thought I'd just go and see how it goes. Book in hand I arrived at General Pardinas to a line of about 100 people at 9:30am.
Everyone was lining up together in one long line. As the line got closer to the door people were seperated for more lines at the counters inside.
Withing 15minutes I was inside at counter 2. I had forgotten my passport photocopy. I had to go out of the building and get a copy across the road.
I was let in no problems back to Counter 1 this time. They didnt want my photos. All they needed were: 2 copies of the filled out NIE form, the original passport and one photocopy.
I'll get a notification in the mail within a few weeks for the next step apparently.
I was on my way home a little after 10am. No more than 40mins in total.
As I was leaving I saw that the line was moving just as quickly.
Sorry but I was just trying to draw attention to the section which specifies what a passport photo must show and what it must not, as a general rule of thumb, as I figure that a passport photo is a passport photo, in whichever country, I did not intend to direct him to any particular country, just used the website that I know best as an example, and it does make referrence to the wearing of glasses in that section, which I think must surely be the same guidline for all passport photos.
Cheers Man.....
