hey all..... since tis the season of great annoucements (our upcoming baby mm'er!!)...i figured it is time to let you all know....
I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!
(sorry for the all caps jer, it is that kinda moment!!)
some of you have met my wonderful guy already....alfonso! if you haven't, then look out for him at the next mm get-together!
the date of said do is sept. 15 in his family's village...candeleda (avila).
i have a couple of questions for the mm crowd:
1- anyone know a decent tailor for the wedding dress. spanish wedding dresses seem to start at 900 euros and i am sorry, to me, that is just not justifiable! 900 euros is food for a year! i just can't spend that amount....so i am thinkinhg of having the dress made....something very very simple. let me know here or via email.. claballe@gmail.com
2 - any americans (without papers, that is to say, here in spain "irregularly" as the govt likes to put it) been married to a spaniard? any advice on the paperwork front. i have to list of what i have to get, but one thing is proof of where i've been for two years. of course, i've been here, but illegally...so any clues? let me know if you have been there, done that.
xoxooox and happy weekend to all! candy

ena also thought that the dress prices were I-N-S-A-N-E and even though we may have had the money, it was the principle of it.
you may want to do what she did and get a bridesmaid dress for your wedding dress.
i think it cost about 250 euros plus another 30 or so for the alterations.
and the great thing is that it is just a very beautiful dress and is NOT a wedding gown so ena can use it again for other special occasions (such as the upcoming wedding of a very cool and lovely friend ).
to be honest with ya, i think a tailor made dress will cost just as much if not more than the ones out there for sale (which are tailor made as well by the way).
Your in luck, I have a friend who does just that very thing, she made the suit and dress for her own wedding, prices seem reasonable, if you PM me I'll pass on her phone number.

you may, or may not, remember me but I was the Canadian girl who e-mailed you in response to your plea about the trials of finding a spanish man! You were looking for opinions of women who were attached to a spaniard in one way or another...
Anyway, I am happy to hear you have found your media-naranja and now get to move on to dealing with a spanish suegra, ect! I hope you and Alfonso have a happy engagement and even happier life shared together!
We got married in Canada which was much easier, so I don't have and legal or fashion advice. I only wanted to add my well-wishes!

i was at home this morning watching some enthralling spanish daytime tv and i saw a report about a new store on calle mayor for "novias" that do not want to spend a fortune on their wedding dresses.
the place is called "aire" and is at calle mayor, 9, 1ºdcha (it is a piso, not a storefront).
tel.: 91 542 0342.
i think the said they have nice dresses for as little as 600 euros.
although that still be more than you are willing to pay, i thought i would share it with ya.
