As I have seen by all the helpful posts in this forum I would like to know if anyone out there can help me with the following:
I am looking for a website (or newspaper, etc..) that has a calendar of all the bullfights and encierros throughout Spain. Is this a reasonable request or am I asking too much from my fellow Spaniards?
Basically I am planning to take 3 or 4 days vacation and part of my decision of where and when to go would rely on this info. It would be ideal for me to mix a little beach time and the adrenaline of an encierro if I could.
Thanks,

I just returned to the States after 2 weeks of Madrid-area corridas....Las Ventas usually has the Sunday afternoon fights, but publication-wise "Seis Toros" is your best local source for fights throughout Spain-Portugal-France (San Lorenzo de Escorial, Guadarrama, etc.) I think it comes out on Tuesdays...if you're in Madrid the reventa shop on C/Victoria (intersect with C/Pozos?) is a reliable souce of info & tickets.

I appreciate the info. and I will look into it. By the way, I like your quote at the end of your salutation...would have liked to have been there to see the look on their face when you tried...

Right now San Sebastin de los Reyes, a northeastern suburb of Madrid, is in Fiestas and has its encierro daily at 8am sharp. I think the party continues until Sunday, or perhaps next Wednesday. You can get the bus from Plaza de Castilla to get there. If you catch the bus around 7:15 or 7:30am you will see that there are lots of people doing the same. The entrance into the plaza de toros to see the encierro and recortes costs 3.
We were there this morning (yawn!) and watched as not one, but two bulls actually jumped the fence separating the main ring from the inner corridor where the runners escape from the bulls. Needless to say, everyone in the stands where I was sitting jumped up and started running upwards just in case the bulls also managed to jump into the stands.
The encierros of San Sebastin de los Reyes is the second in importance in Spain, after Pamplona. You can read more about this festival, which continues until August 31st at El Encierro .
The oldest encierro is celebrated in Cuellar, Segovia.
The Doorman on duty at the Ritz is no longer there, but if you will look at the base of the center section of the revolving door at the Hotel Reina Victoria you will see the results of my second failed attempt.
Hence my interest in bull fighting; it all seems so much more sane & logical.
