New yrs. plans for me are still up in the air, maybe a nice dinner with friends at Bangkok (Thai restaurant on Calle Bordadores #15 just off Calle Arenal and Puerta del Sol).

As for webcam action, I am very psyched since this is the first New Year's Eve that my PUERTA DEL SOL WEBCAM will be around for and I am going to do my best to make sure it is ON and 100% functional that Tuesday night, Dec. 31st. Maybe you folks not in Madrid will be able to see the people eating their "uvas" (grpaes) on the cam

That page is going to get MEGA hits on that evening

Ok, seems the SOL CAM was down from Dec. 20th until yesterday but now it is back up and ready for the huge New Year's Eve celebration tomorrow night.

So, unless there is another problem, it will be showing you all the New Year's bash!!!

Hey all, just chillin while ena prepares for our evening out

My best wishes for the new year for everyone!!!

Nige, could have been worse, you could have wished everyone a "posterior" (culito) new year

So far so good, SOLCAM is working fine

Will have dinner at Bangkok (Thai) with ena, pim, Madrid Insider (Rocco) and whoever else shows and then get as close to Sol as possible for the taking of the 12 grapes. Then off to see if we can't do some partying :cheers:

Jer, it was a treat watching the Sol netcam at midnight!

PS A friend's daughter is studying in Madrid, not Barcelona, and leaves in a month. I'll see if I can get her and fellow classmates to check out onspanishtime.com, because I would think having a cellphone as a student would be great, wish I had one when I was there.

Hey Paul & Booklady. glad ya enjoyed the New Years Cam

I just got around to looking at my stats for the site on that day and the webcam page of Puerta del Sol got over 12,000 visits between 11pm and 1am

I knew it would be busy but had no idea it would get that many visits!!!

We went to Sol for the grape eating and bell tolls (did ya see us on the webcam ) but due to the huge crowds we could not hear the bells at all. Was just as fun eating the grapes and guessing when the bells were tolling anyway

I cannot be there tonight, because I am now nursing a fairly bad head cold and sore throat, that I seem to have picked up on board the flight back from Madrid on Monday night, and not surprisingly, seeing as there were about 15 sneeze artists sitting around me, blasting it out all over creation, for the entire 2 hour flight back to London, and as a result, I too have got it, when I got up for work this morning, and my head was spinning, my nose was dripping, and I could barely talk, and I still went in to the office and worked till 4.00pm, so I'm stuck in tonight. :cry:

Well anyway, I hope you aint stuck in tonight, and can go & have a new years drink, and if you do, have one for me too. I bought back a couple of bottles of Manzanilla (San Lucar de Barrameda) but wont now be able to enjoy the taste with this damn cold, so I will leave them for another time.
