quote: If it were a dog, I would save someone elses pet over a person. Dogs are great. Come to think of it, if I were a dog, so would I! However, because I am human, Please note that the quote says if IT were a dog.

You are right, I sure missed that! Guess I was too much of an optimist. Dogs ARE great, but then again so are:
- The (human) researchers who create medicines to keep them healthy.
- The (human) veterinarians who take care of them when they are ill.
- The (human) factory workers who make everything from food to rabies vaccines for them.
- The (human) groomers who shampoo and trim their fur.
- The (human) housesitters who care for them when their owners are away.
- The (human) miracle workers who care for them when they are found neglected and abused by the minority (thankfully) of humans than don't like them or know how to treat them well.
- The (human) taxpayers who pay for animal shelters.
When I come home at night, my dog Traviesa is always happy to see me. She cheers me up when I am carrying the weight of other concerns. Traviesa vs. Saddam? That's a no-brainer....However IMHO I cannot assign Traviesa an importance above that of an unknown person who has people to love and be loved by, responsibilities to undertake and perform, and contributions to the world that are greater in magnitude and importance than the companionship Traviesa gives to Irene and me. Just my 2 cents.
