A friend and i were talking about some of our favorite places to go out and meet new people.Maybe get a phone # or whatever. :ks: El Cuchi en Plaza Mayor? Palacio Gaviria on calle Arenal? La Comedia huertas? A question to all the singles on El dia de los Enamorados or Valentines Day. Where is your favorite place to go,have a copa and spark up a conversation with a total stranger? Cool

I can strike up a conversation with anyone just about anywhere. When I go out in Chueca, I always meet some interesting folk. I guess I'm that type of person.

Yea...Chueca is a great neighborhood for hanging and meeting new people day or night. I lived on fuencarral across the street from Cafe Del Mercado and worked at a place called Deeper on c/San Mateo. Redwood. Ever been to Why Not?

Byron,

I have been to WHY NOT, but I wasn't impressed at all with the place. I liked LIQUID, RICKS and SHANGAY. I've never been to DEEPER. I may have to try it out one day.

When are U heading back over to Madrid?

Shawn

Shawn,

I guess WHY NOT isn't the most impressive bar in the hood, but me having friends who work there helps alot. Have you been to Polana? It's WHY NOTs sister club. Right around the corner from Ricks.I think it's calle Barbieri. Deeper is called Piu now and i'm not sure what type of place it is now. I'll be back the weekend of the 28th.

Byron,

I will be there, but I get in March 1 and stay until March 9. Polana, I didn't like at all. I like BAR LIQUID becasue I know many of the people who work there and I always have fun there meeting new people. Being African-american in Spain and gay is really interesting.

Hope to meet up with you some day.

Shawn

Shawn,

Sure...lets hang out some time. I have'nt been in Chueca for a minute. I have a friend who just started working at Mito and that would be a good place for me to go and ask for work. You're write. Being African American is interesting in Spain. Lots of times i find it to be a definate advantage..

que tal? Ok i was looking for board where I can find out about the best clubs in madid right now. I guess this is the closest to it. When I left last june the fsm clubs (ministry of sound, space of sound, emotion, danzoo, etc.) were my favorites. Are there any new ones that are good. I hear deep is a good club, digweed and car coz played there last year. also friday nights at cool, i hear is pretty good. I will be in madrid for 2 weeks starting March 20th. I would love to meet anyone who's living there right now.Anyway, any info would help. Thanks. :m:

Why not? I love why not. Despite being female, hetero, and absolutely pathetic with my spanish, I have had the best flirting of my life at Why Not? I'd give you details but I'm working them up in to some comedic short story erotica I am working on!!!!!

Other great places to flirt....okay, it is a kinda sucky bar, but Torero at 5am upstairs...a total meat fest for a single gal!!!! (granted in the morning I may not remember who julio written on a smudgy napkin is, but hey...it is fun at the time!)

Since I've returned in January I have yet to check out any clubs. In 98/99 I used to love Soul Kitchen and Shangay on Sundays and the old Moskito in Lavapies and Ohm (I can't remember the night).
