It was interesting to observe the decision by the Socialist government of Spain to push through the law in the Cortes last week that allows homosexuals to marry and adopt children. I am unsure how long it will be before it is fully implemented.
Interesting because it occurred during the week of the "coronation" of a new Pope whose views on this matter are well known. In fact, to an outsider, it would appear that Spain has now more or less become a non Catholic or secular state.
I read that the Vatican hit back by advising Spanish Catholic civil servants to refuse to officiate at homosexual wedding ceremonies, even if it meant risking losing their jobs.
Could this cause any ructions in the future ?
