Well, fortunately, since the introduction and popularity of McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and Pizza Hut... the average weight is already increasing! So I guess on the bright side, they won't be able to make fun or snub their noses at 'fat' americans for much longer! Its not the chips and dip that bugs me, its the lack of regard for the language.

It's not like it's the first time Corporate America has stepped in to screw up a society. I thought I would be able to get away from typical American culture (And attitude) in Spain, but it's becoming increasingly more difficult.

Yep, that's even better than the "Supremely Useless Vehicle" I had heard, je je je! I have to admit that I have a gas hog too, a 1968 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup that gets 4km/l (10mpg) that I drive about one day a month, for a grand total of 250km a year. However, unlike SUVs, it has a real purpose, hauling heavy loads like gravel, sand, and firewood. That's why I bought it and how I use it. While it's sad to witness the popularity of American fast food joints in Europe, Europeans need to realize that they really do own the solution. If the only people to patronize American fast food joints in Europe were Americans, they would go out of business. We all have choices, although many choose what is most "convenient", which is why such businesses exist. (I choose to patronize these establishments solely for their free, usually clean restrooms! )

Well, although I usually opt for the tapas, sometimes that isn't possible... BUT! I must say that I like the Spanish version of fast food Pans and Co. Its a healthier alternative to the Am. franchises and you're still eating spanish food
