I was fortunate enough to have stayed in Spain for almost four years. My mother is of Spanish descent, but was born and raised in the Philippines. She first took me to Spain waaaay back in 1987. And every 3 years we would go there, but it wasn't until 1997 that I decided to "bum" around in Europe with Spain being my homebase.

I lived in Madrid at 59 Maria de Guzman for at least 4 months before staying with my relatives in Coruna, Galicia. A wonderful place, especially whenever my friends from the U.S. would drop by and they and I would take a bus all the way to Santiago de Copostela.

All I gotta say that Spain ROCKS!!!!

I plan to move there as soon as I'm thru with my I.T. lessons.

Well... many, many people share your love for this country. Personally i have travelled it up and down and been to every autonomous region including the islands. Have been to over 50 cities in 17 regions and when people ask me what I like best, I can give them a list of my favorite cities/towns but it is hard to pick the best of the best since it is all so amazing

Spent a few days in "A Coru�a" (La Coru�a) years ago and truly enjoyed it, especially the "casco antiguo" (old quarter). Stayed at a little hostal run by a family and they even invited us to have dinner with them. The impression I had of La Coru�a was that of a VERY big fishing village, the people were very down to earth and as kind as could be. Interestingly enough, La Coru�a is one of the few "big" cities in Spain that is right on the beach as well. Being from New York, I found it too be very small but it was a great time all in all.

Also have been to Santiago de Compostela a few times and absolutely LOVE it. Of course I kissed the Saint's toes at the cathedral, no visit would be complete without it

Personally, I can never get enough of the CRTVG (Compa��a de Radio-Televisi�n Galicia) at www.crtvg.es/ingles/camweb/primenucamarasflash.htm . The refresh rates are truly amazing! My dreamis to get the Plaza Mayor cam streaming like their webcams.

I can spend hours alone watching the cam they have inthe "Plaza del Obradoiro".

Hi Julian Felipe! Wow, it sounds like you had a blast out there. Nice to see a fellow Filipino with as much passion for Spain although it is quite understandable considering our country's history plus your family's heritage.
I'm also from Manila and like you, I plan to move there middle of next year. I will probably take the study route to be able to stay there legally for at least 10 months and then see how it goes from there. Would love to work, but from what I heard, it's not that easy to find employment. I think you would have to find a job from here pa lang and get sponsored.
Anyway, if you have any useful tips, keep me posted. Thanks!

There are lots of jobs in Spain! The big question is if you are choosy. Why don�t you come as a tourist first. You are aloud to stay for a month being a Filipina, but you can ask for an extension for another 2 months. In three months time you should be able to check-out the situation.

I'm not a Filipino myself, but visited the Philippines and lived in the Bay Area California which has a huge Filipino community as well.
