Reading about the feria de sevilla reminded me of the romerias. Back in the 60s the romeria de el rocio was fabulous. Painted carts, people walking and on horseback, whole families making the pilgrimage to Coto Donana. Lots of singing and dancing and mucho vino tambien. My husband and I were welcomed with open arms and many copas even though we were American and not even Catholic.
I looked up the websites for el rocio and can see that times have changed. It might still be worth a visit.
