What is meant by "casi na" - which I think is a shortened form of casi nada? It's one of those phrases I have heard but never quite understood> Many thanks. Karen-Anne

"casi na" is a females-only casino. :jeje:

I know that in Andalucia, "Granada" often becomes "Gran", so I'd bet your perception is correct.

:-D

Quite funny!!!

Seriously: "casi nada" would be "almost nothing", but it often means just the contrary (and then usually pronounced that way: "casi n") - it is used to speak about something weird or big, but which was not expected to be so big.

For example: "he is working as a sweeper; he makes 5000 EUR a month"; then you may say "casi n", since that would be a lot, specially for a sweeper.

I hope the general idea is someway clearer, but I hope, as well, that someone can bring better examples.

Many Thanks for the swift response Max,that fits in perfectly with the situations I have heard it used in. What was confusing me was that my attempts at translation implied it was nothing but the context often suggested otherwise! Karenanne
