I�ve just arrived in Spain to teach. I have little or no Spanish - and am looking for a Spanish amigo with a similar level of English for conversation practice - I suggest initially over lunch / a beer.

Obviously - I should post this in Spanish - but I can�t. The irony!

I�m 29 and male, living with my English girlfriend, and am an English teacher.

Hey d_c, doing an "intercambio" is a great idea and as a native English speaker (right?) you are in demand Big Grin

Check out the classifieds section of the InMadrid newspaper, the October issue came out today.

See the "Places to get InMadrid" paper at www.in-madrid.com/us and click on the "distribution" link if you want a hard copy or go online to www.in-madrid.com/classifieds and check out the Spanish offered intercambios section.

I also recommend you place a free intercambio ad in InMadrid, you will surely get lots of phone calls from interested Spaniards.

deeply confused, another way to find an intercambio is to go the Complutense and post posters saying that a native speaker is looking for an intercambio. you might want someone to write it for you in spanish, but whatever for works you. many of my friends found intercambios that way.

I say that putting an ad in the InMadrid paper (as well as at the university as recommended by honning12) is best since you are the one in high demand Big Grin and will be able to choose the "intercambio" partners you want Big Grin
