not if he wants it done well :jeje: :jeje: :jeje:
those "machine" translations are notoriously crappy, especially ones that ask for your e-mail to be able to use them (like the one at systran), then you are not only guaranteed a garbage translation but also junk mail
although in this case with a simple phrase, the machine may do a decent job...
The free web version of SysTran is not very good, but if anyone, even knowing the likely results, wants to buy one, that's the right choice. I've seen very good translations by Systran(from English to French or Spanish, never the other way), but keep in mind that the version I was able to use was the best, so not very cheap, and, even though, you sometimes could still find real crap.
And coming to the translation, "mutuo" in Spanish can not be used in this sense of "mutual" in English, that's the reason for my suggestion: "comn"; from the DRAE: "mutuo: [...] que recprocamente se hace entre dos o ms personas, animales o cosas"

Puna, using it (babel fish or other machine translations) to better understand an article (or figure out what it is trying to say is ok. i assume you use it to translate the articles and give you an idea (more or less) what the article is about.
the problem arises when people look to them as learning tools, to learn how to express themselves or translate a phrase they want to learn how to say
i have never used 'mutual friend' in spanish. what we normally say is 'un amigo de nostros/ nosotras necesita ayuda' or if you have doubts about it you could say 'creo que un amigo de nosotros necesita ayuda'

Thanks a lot for all the help. I appreciate it. yes, the cheap online translation tools are useless for precise communication, thats why I turned to here for help. If you must have the real thing there could be no better that I'm aware of than Jer's good old Spain message board.
