I am going to be finishing my formal Spanish study in a language school soon and also know some people coming to Madrid to study Spanish that will not have the opportunity I've had in going to school. They have asked me to help them with finding some good resources for studying Spanish. One of the things I am trying to think of for them is software and/or online web sites that are proven to be excellent resources for self study. I've heard of Rosetta Stone, but I wanted to post here and see if anyone else has any experience with other tools like this. Something economical would be good too!
ChadInMadrid, look through the forums a little closer. I just found the most useful online link in here to helping learn Spanish that I have seen yet. http://www.studyspanish.com/freesite.htm Try it and see what you think.

Hey Chad, it is strictly up to the user as to how far they want to go. I personally consider their disc package reasonable considering what it offers, however you mentioned the words economy, "as in free or close to it", and the free stuff will help a lot if they are like me & know next to nothing and follow the guidelines. Free crystal clear pronunciation of native Spanish, and then a comparison of heavy accented English for a guideline to proper pronunciation, who could ask for more for free? Just requires patience if you have a slow conection, it is a sound start. I hope it helps, Chad

By the way Chad, Sue Yurick gets the credit for posting that. I had saved it but could not recall which forum I saw it in. Thanks Sue. This has helped me already in just a week.
