The vampire films I have seen here have dubbed it as "�Atr�s!" which loses a lot (dubbing often does)

if properly speaking we should say "vade retro Satan�s", this is Latin as you can see and not Van Helsing�s at Bram SToker�s.........
Even in Spanish (i.e.LATIN VULGAR EVOLUCIONADO)we say that.

Sedusa, this is in reference to the story that holding up a silver crucifix in front of a vampire will cause it to flee from you or at least cover its face. See a Dracula movie for reference.

Used in other contexts, it's sort of a way to say "out of my sight you cursed being", usually used as a joke but maybe an attempt to get some annoying person to leave your presence.

Hey sudusa, talk about H-E-double toothpics and other things we have not heard in forever, someone on another thread mentioned "scooby snacks" the other day and I almost wet my pants when I read it :jeje: :jeje: :jeje: Wish I could find it again.

Hola Stephen, I agree with the others, Leonora's latin saying sound great!

But you can also say:
"Atr�s, demonio!
"Fuera de aqui, hijo de Satan�s!

But it lacks the panache of the Latin! My advice is you'll be more believable in Latin, and take lots of garlic, too!
