A friend of mine went on a 2 week intensive business course to learn Dutch, he went in not knowing a word, and left speaking almost fluently. I have a basic understanding of spanish, but i am looking to try a similar course.
Does anyone know of any intensive courses that could get me speaking to a decent level in 2 weeks?
Hi - there's lots of language academies here in Madrid which can give you intensive classes- do a search on this board for specifics, but the best feedback I've heard was for Elemadrid. I took classes at Acento Espanol for a couple of weeks and that was fine. Still, in my humble opinion how much you can pick up in a two-week intensive course is going to be more a function of YOUR determination, patience, and discipline rather than the quality of instruction (though that's important too). You can search for the individual websites to get costs, they're all there.
I also think it's unrealistic to expect to achieve anything even close to fluency in two weeks.

I have been trying to teach my Spanish girlfriend Dutch for about 2 years now and still fluency is not to be expected in the near future. Where did your friend take this miracle course?

It took me three years to become near fluent in Spanish and 5 to become fluent and put a LOT of energy and work into it. No class taught me. It was a lot of time at home going online and talking to Spanish people, watching Spanish TV, listening to Spanish radio and staying away from English media.
I highly doubt there is anyone in this world capable of becoming fluent in another language in two weeks. You can't even get through all the verb tenses in that time.
