Jer you are so right about Spain having internet cafes everywhere. In Madrid you can do your laundry and read your e-mail at OndaBlu! And in just about every street there is an internet cafe.

I preferred BBIGG in Calle de Alcala in Madrid, because it was easily accessible, they were open until 11 p.m. and on weekends, and I did not have to climb any stairs to get to it! Red Face

The Internet sure has changed the way we travel!

I have tried out a few internet cafes but my favourite is ono.com, on gran via, towards plaza de espana, great price, 1 euro for 1 hour, and you get a card that you just slip into the computer and refill, and the internet is fast and very reliable.
Never pay more than 1.20 euro for one hour, a waste of money, just walk around and you will probably find a favourite place, there are many cafes on almost every street in Madrid

just one month left until I move to madrid for real, sooooo exciting

Hey lin_san, thanks for the news on ONO.

They DEFINITELY have one of THE fastest connections around.

I popped my head in there (the one on Gran Va, there is another on Calle Fuencarral) about 8 months ago when they had just opened up and they were charging a whopping 500 pesetas (3 Euros) per hour Eeker

Good to see they have come down in price, but I guess with all the competition they had no choice.

For those who want FREE* Internet access, there's the Madrid Abierto project in the Centro Commercial at Puerto de Toledo (Metro Puerto de Toledo), 5th floor.

All you do is go up to the guy managing the system, ask for a place and you get half an hour Internet access for free. Yup. Nada.

*The machines are setup in a somewhat restricted way. They have a "front-end" that allows you to enter a URL and works on a modified Internet Explorer v4 browser but doesn't provide you with the standard IE buttons.

hi all! my bf works at an internet cafe...it's called Casa de Internet and it's in metro BILBAO on calle Luchana. The owner just raised the prices but you can do everything there, scan pics, copy cds, use the webcam(on a few comps) and even plug in your own labtop. so yeah, and the best thing is the people who work there! Big Grin peace

thanks for the tip Roland Big Grin

yeah julie, i recall meeting your boyfriend at v-ball last year and he mentioned he worked there.

well, i have not been by there in a few years but "la casa de internet" used to be one of the most expensive cybercafes in madrid.

do you know what they charge per hour now?

There should be free internet access at a lot of libraries, cultural centres and the like.

key words are "should be" Frowner

unfortunately, 1 pc in a neighborhood library where you can spend just a half hour tops never cuts it.

Hmm, the Comunidad de Madrid library in Usera allows you an hour a day (C/Rafael Ybarra). A friend has been and says its good. Its a bit off the beaten track though you can reserve time.

I think its one of the recently touted centres for the general population. Theres another in the Centro Cultural Galileo in Chamber.

The library/youth centre at the bottom of our road has free internet access too! So maybe it will be in quite a few of them?
