Hey guys, in the contiuing saga of getting my residency permit...
Does anyone know- if you renew your passport does it come all new with blank pages? do they slip in some "history" page noting your past travels?
What about if you loose your passport and get a new one? If you give them your passport number does the new one come with info (dates of entry, places, etc.) of your past travels?
One more question- just checking out the US Passport Agency website, and I looked at the "foreign entry requirements" for Spain and saw this:
SPAIN - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist or business stays up to 90 days. (**90-day period begins when entering Schengen countries).
Now, I always thought the 90-day period was an EU thing?! And not just Schengen. Can anyone confirm?? Reason being, I entered the EU-area just about three months back, but in October I took a trip to Ireland. I.e., NOT a Schengen country. So was my 90-days resent on returning to Spain in October and thus re-entering Schengen?
Obviously, according to the above statement, yet, but I thought it was a greater-EU rule, meaning Ireland doesn't count as resetting my time...
not sure but i think you get a blank one, no history pages.
as for the 90 day thang. it is 90 of any 6 month period as far as i know so leaving for a week and coming back would not cut it in theory. you would need to leave for 90 days (3 months) and then come back.
i would like to know what happens if your u.s. passport expired in may 2005
not that mine did but just curious.
is it easy to renew? would one get his/her american citizenship revoked?
on a related note, i started THIS THREAD before i saw yours binkx.
Your new passport would be blank, but it will show where and when it was issued. Also, if you lost your old one, I believe there is a note to this effect on the last page. My current passport was a replacement for one that my dog chewed up (she was really possessive and hated for me to travel) and it says "replacement for mutilated passport" on the back page!
jer--As I remember from the mutilation incident, I think you need your birth certificate and social security card to get a new passport if you don't have a valid one, but don't hold me to it.
P.S. I'm not even going to post about the putada that the residency process has turned into on our end... don't want to jinx it any further. Though I've heard that the terms of the last amnesty are going to be extended for those who have been here three years...

thanks mariposita! so, let's say, that someone that submitted a photograph of the pages of a passport to the Spanish government back in the spring, but has since travelled to places maybe they shouldn't have, and now needs to submit new photograph pages.... could in effect renew the passport and submit that, so no one ever sees the new stamps?
