During my last trip to the states this summer I noticed that there were a good amount of 'social groups' per say of parents of bilingual children that got together periodically. My wife and I really liked this because we are bilingual parents of a bilingual four year old and saw this as being a wonderful support mecanism for the children as well as the parents.

Does anyone know if anything of this sort exists currently in Madrid? If not, but someone is interested in the idea, please let us know. Now that my daughter is starting to ask us why her friends don't speak Spanish and English like she does, I see it as a positive experience for her should it be available.

Any and all advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Salu2,

Hey tonytorero (great screen name ), such a great idea for a new topic. One day I will have bilingual rugrats Wink myself and will definitely want to join such a group.

I found this one in the InMadrid classifieds for Nov. under "clubs.general" (www.in-madrid.com/classifieds[/URL]):

"ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORKING MOTHERS interested in meeting or informally forming an English speaking mums and kids group on Saturdays. Great opportunity for children to play in English and their mothers to socialise. Please contact Louise on 91 530 79 78 or e-mail: ldenyer@eyoung.es "

It says English speaking and is for mothers but maybe they would be into opening it to all parents and having it bilingual.

Maybe you should drop InMadrid an e-line to classifieds@in-madrid.com and place your own ad to get a group going Smiler

I am sure it will be a popular subject.

Saludos,
jer...
