Hey tweezers, please let us know where you have decided to stay and the (more or less) dates of your trip to Madrid so I can recommend a laundry place nearby.

Last I knew on this board you were looking into staying at LOS AMIGOS, is this confirmed?

Rumor has it (I was told by the owner herself) that the new wing of LOS AMIGOS HOSTEL will have a mini laundry room for the guests Big Grin It will be a paid, do it yourself service but will save you the hassle of going out to do it at a laundromat.

There is also a neat and pretty central place called Onda Blu which is a combo Internet center/self service laundromat Cool

Check out the thread on it complet with info and pics by CLICKING HERE [search]

Saludos,

Hola Guys,
My two cents??? I strongly recommend using Onda Blue. It is great laundromat, you can use the Internet to answer your e-mail, or look up Renfe timetables while you do your laundry. It is very clean and easy to get to. The machines are brand new (at least they were when I used them last December)and the staff is extremely nice. Besides it is so much cheaper than having your hotel do your laundry. There is a little store across the street that you can buy your supplies and save a few euros.

Hey guys,
thanks a lot for you answers... could you please tell me what the address is (of Onda Blue)?
Jer- since you mentioned it, i have a question regarding Los Amigos. We're having a small problem about making reservations because one of us isn't sure yet if he's coming, and we don't know how many beds we'll need. Could you possibly tell me how far ahead they're booked (more or less)?
Thanks a lot! Cool

Hey tweezers,

The address of Onda Blue is CLICK HERE Big Grin

As for Los Amigos, you should ask them how far ahead they are booked, I do not know. I only recommend them since they are a great hostel but I know nothing about bookings.

If you do not get a response to an e-mail and want a definite answer on booking ahead, call them. They ALL speak English in case you do not do the Spanish thing.

I would guess that they are booking a month or maybe even 6 weeks in advance for summer. It has become a VERY popular spot. MAKE YOUR RES ASAP!

You can reserve the bed of the person who is not sure he/she is going yet since they allow you to cancel within 48 hours of check in without getting charged the 15 Euro penalty fee. So, I suggest you reserve all the beds and then call them to cancel one bed if that indecisive person bails out.

DO NOT LET IT GO TO LONG OR YOU WILL NOT GET ANY BEDS Eeker

I know this is an old thread, but rather than make a new topic, I figured I'd use it...

When I studied in Madrid '87-88, laundry service was my hands, a scrub board, and the bathtub. Luckily, I expected this and packed nearly all dark clothes. Still, when I returned home after a year, I knelt down and kissed the washing machine! Smiler

Are (self-service) laundromats becoming more popular in Spain? I returned in '99 and '01, but don't remember seeing any (certainly none as cool as OndaBlu Big Grin ). Maybe part of the reason I don't remember is because we visited a few washing-machine-owning Spanish friends, which helped reduce the nightly "tub scrub" chores.

I'm asking because I plan to go to Spain with my family in the not too distant future. While my brothers and parents are all experienced European travelers, now there are spouses and children in the equation. I just want to tell them what to expect.

Thanks for any information!
