Hey...my virgin voyage on the site...loving it so far. I have searched around for awhile and I think it is time to post my question! I have the wonderful dilemma of what to do with ten free days in Spain. Can you help? Here are my specifics:
-I am currently working in Suisse and planning on easyjetting it on September 1st to Barcelona. I am meeting a friend there on the 11th, so I don't want to stray too far.
-As I have been working for quite some time now, I am looking for a 'vacation from my vacation' - beach time. Nothing to intense before my friend and I take on Barcelona and some of Southern Spain.
-Of course, budget is an issue. I am looking to spend 30-40ish euros per night for a hotel...
Is all this possible? What are your suggestions for me? Thanks a bunch and cheers!

I'll put in a vote for my favorite Costa Brava town: Sant Feliu des Guixols This web site has a ton of info in several languages. Although it lists lots of accomodations, from four star hotels to pensiones, it doesn't quote prices. We stayed at Casa Rovira, a crumbling villa with an awesome garden, not on the beach, but an easy walk. Looks like they spiffed it up in '98. In 2001 it was 3350 pesetas for a room. They have their own website, accessible from the above page. Don't miss the paella negra!

Pack light, sleep cheap, eat well.

Hi karyb, another long time lurker turned active member, I love it! Welcome to the group Big Grin

Oh where to begin!!! In the 10 days you can get pretty far and get back to Barcelona in time to meet your friend but there is plenty close by as well.

On the Costa Brava I enjoyed "Tossa de Mar" and it comes highly recommended by others as well, just see the thread on it by CLICKING HERE.

San Sebastin is NOT to be missed (surprised Sue did not sing its praises in her post above Confused ). See the thread HERE for more goods on S.S.

There is also a good thread HERE on doing both Tossa de Mar and San Sebastin one after the other.

Cadaqus on the Costa Brava (Salvador Dal and Federico Garca Lorca made it famouse as their summer playground) is also very nice and I am sure you will love it. More on it at http://www.publintur.es/guiacata/cbrava/cadaques/cadaques.htm

Getting away from the beach you can get a surreal cultural fix (if you like that sort of thing) at the Teatro-Museo Dal in Figueres less than 2 hours from Barcelona. See the website at www.salvador-dali.org Cool

Llanes is a longer trip across the Cantabrian coast but in my opinion it has some of the most unspoiled and beautiful beaches in Spain. See www.llanesnet.com for more (in Spanish only but loads of beach pics Big Grin ).

I could go on all day!

Saludos,
jer...
