Since everyone is so helpful, I'll keep asking questions until someone tells me to stop! :-)

I have never used a nanny before, my 9 year old has always been in preschool/daycare/afterschool care with large groups, so I was worried she might get bored with a nanny? For people who have used (or are) nannies - is it typical for them to take the kids to be around other kids? Or do they spend the day in the apartment?

Any idea what basic price range one would pay per week or month for a nanny for 2 kids? Since this is short term for us, we don't mind spending extra money on good care for the kids if it includes the bonuses of the kids learning some spanish and interacting with other kids.

As the Nanny, I think I would go out of my mind if we had to stay cooped up in the apartment or house all day. I know of nannies who have worked in these types of situations and they are never happy with this. Plus in your case it's to your advantage to have your children interacting with other children rather than just being with an adult all day. Having said that I've never nannied in Spain so not sure what the norm is, nor what the going rate is. If I had to take a wild guess it would be somewhere between 7- 12 euros per hour. Segunda mano and loquo.com are good sites to check as well. This will give you a rough idea of the going rates.

Best of luck,
Bonnie
