Hi all,

Just thought I'd let all the Brits out there that from May you're going to have to have a 20 minute INTERVIEW to get your British passport. So, if you have a passport running out soon, get it done ASAP before the new rules come in!

By the way, if you live in Spain, get it done here rather than in the UK - it's much quicker.

Cervantes, that little bit of information is for Brits who are applying for their FIRST EVER passport. Not for those who already have one!!

Hi,

Yes, I've realised that now. As usually, BBC Radio One don't tell all the facts.

So that means that people who already have their fraudulent passports can keep it, no questions asked (literally). Hmm.

What's interesting me is the proposal that if the Brits refuse to accept to hold UK ID cards, they will be unable to renew their passports. So what then will happen to all the expats who are residents of other countries???

I realize that this is off topic here... but just trying to understand - why are the Brits so reluctant to accept the ID cards?

I have no idea Ola!!!!!! I personally have no problem with holding ID. I know that some people see it as an invasion of their privacy, and very much along the lines that Big Brother is Watching. There is also lots of talk of exactly how much it is going to cost to produce these cards. I have a very simplistic view, I'm afraid. If I am told I have to have a card, then I will have a card but I may baulk at having to pay 90 quid for one mad

I am just not sure how this is going to be workable, with regard to renewing passports though, for the Brits that have cut all ties with the UK, and are residents of other countries. I renew my passport in Madrid, as you have to physically be in the country when you renew a passport. I am not resident, nor ordinarly resident, in the UK, so am I expected to have UK ID, just because I am a UK citizen????
