Hi mark, Whereabouts are you looking for in the north of Madrid? Around Chamartin, Plaza Castilla you can pay anything from 600 upwards with or without bills. If you look in Segundamano - Flats you may find a better price but most of the places around this area (including Pio XII) can be quite expensive (> 1000). I would advise you come over for a weekend if possible, making contact over the phone before you come over. I can supply some numbers from the Madrid yellow pages to phone, since I am looking for a flat for april in the same area. Alternatively, you could live nearer the center (potentially cheaper??) and commute to the north. Chamartin is well served by the metro and you can get the from Tribunal in 20 mins or less. A monthly ticket that covers the buses and metro is a lot cheaper than the equivelant in london (no idea about belfast). ta grant (currently living in Hortaleza).

Mark -- If you can specify a little more the area that you wish to live in (Chamartn, Pza Castilla, Arturo Soria, etc) I might be able to help. I live in the Valdeacederas/Pza Castilla area and can send you phone numbers of places that I see up for rent. As you may know, many places are advertised by simply hanging a sign on their balcony. Rentals are few and far between in this area. You might also want to check out the rentals page, or put a post on Loquo Madrid and see if you get any responses. Good luck! P.S. Here is a one bedroom flat available 10 minutes walk from Plaza Castilla.

hey Neil, welcome to the board cool trip, 2 whole months in madrid, nice!!! there is a TON of info already on the board about apt. hunting. spend a lot of time here, especially on the ACCOMMODATIONS FORUM and you will get a lot out of it. also, don't miss my apt. hunting reources at www.multimadrid.com/mm_interactive/links/apts.htm and my classifieds at www.multimadrid.com/classifiedsthe only bad thing i can see in your plan is the "mid-month" to "mid-month" stay. much harder to find apts. from mid-month than it is from the 1st to end-month. Not sure how cheap you need the place to be but for 2 people, you will not find a dirt-cheap place. you should look into the "Residencia del Prado" flat available via Madrid Insider at http://madridinsider.i8.com/learn/doubleTEFLpack.html . they list a double room for 550 Euros. i have seen the place personally and it is clean, nice and VERY central. they would also most likely be able to do the mid-June to mid-August thang. i am pretty sure it is TEFL housing during the academic year but they offer the rooms out to anyone in summer. good luck. saludos, jer...

They have a website that you can register on and use to locate vacation rentals, long term rentals etc...the webiste is www.segundamano.esgood luck ezra
