I am planning on visiting Madrid during the end of November. All the information I have read is overwhelming and I would love to do them all but I will only be ther for 4 days (11/20-24). Could someone recommend an itinerary of places that I should try to see while I am there? I would love to see some flamenco shows and maybe even take some side trips if possible..
Also.. what is the weather like at that time?
Thanks so much!

The weather it's usually cold, close to 0C during the early morning and it doesn't rain often but it could rain, if it rains it's not so cold. We usually need gloves and scarf but not a hat.

Hi Viviana, for Flamenco I would recomend Las Carboneras near the Plaza Mayor. (See the Flamenco thread on this site as there are also some good, free shows on Echegaray)There is a bailora there called La Tacha who is incredible to watch. I would also go for a walk in the Retiro - on a cold, sunny day it's lovely. If I only had a few days I wouldn't try and pack too much in either. Sometimes the best memories come from the smallest things. I really like just sitting in one of the open fronted coffee shops in Sol and observing life. Hope you have a great time in the best city in the world, Karenanne

Que envidia...u r going to love Madrid, I wish I could go with you. You need to spend one day and one night in the Plaza Espana / Plaza Mayor / Gran Via area, which are all right next to another. You can spend all day walking around and eating at the small cafes and really get a taste of Spain.
You also need to spend a day in the museums, the Prado and the Palace musuem. If you are big into art, you can spend hours and hours in the Parado and if you aren't big into art, you will still spend an hour or two.
The area surrounding Madrid is excellent. If you are adventurous, rent your own car (versus organized tour) and go to Toledo for a day. You can do Toledo in one day and make it back to Madrid in time for the nocturnal life.
In general, rent a car and get lost. That is the best way to see the area surrounding Madrid. You can go to Alcala de Henares (30 minutes), which has one of the world's oldest universities.
You are going to have a blast, no matter what you do.

From my point of view the first thing you should do is asking a local about Madrid city center different neighborhoods (entertainment (Huertas), History, top restaurants, wine shrines, stylish night clubs (Madrid de los Austrias), liberal (Chueca....). Each of them has a square that sums up its soul and works as a social meeting point of its inhabitants, not miss out on any of this squares (Plaza de la Paja, Plaza de Chueca, Plaza de Santa Ana........) I don't think one needs to ask a "local" (ie. someone from Madrid) since some of us inner-city "guiris" can also inform pretty well on this too
