My husband and I are trying to plan our trip to Andalusia this fall and want to include a visit to a breeding farm where the toros bravos are raised. Unfortunately, we are having trouble finding one that we can visit. Does anyone out there know who I can contact? (our Spanish langauge skills are VERY limited)

hi DJC, welcome to the board.

i personally have no definte leads here but there is a loooooong list of these places at http://portaltaurino.com/ganaderias/

you will need to read spanish to use it.

since you do not do the spanish thang, you may want to try http://mundo-taurino.org , it is in english and i am sure they can point you in the right direction.

the folks at andalucia.com also have a bullfighting guide, try http://www.andalucia.com/bullfight .

http://mundo-taurino.org is going to be your best bet.

saludos,

Thank you. We have no desire to ever see a bullfight, but we have heard a lot about the magnifigance of the bulls and would like to see some up close. I will try the sites.

I remember watching an episode of Globe Trekker on PBS. The show was filmed in Spain. The host visited a farm where bulls are bred for the bullring. If you go to their website , you may be able to locate the name of the farm. Or they may have a link where you can contact them and ask them about it.

Good luck.

I know that RENFE does weekend trips in the autumn, the so-called El Condado train, from Madrid, for enthusiasts. One night away, I believe.

AIUI it includes a visit to a bull-raising farm, you get to see how theyre selected/trained etc, and there's an olive oil visit on the second day.

All this is in Jan province, near Vilches (the area is called El Condado). Stephen
