Hi monica, the word for "narrow" in Spanish is "estrecho". So, narrow sandals are "sandalias estrechas".

I am pretty sure it works for the shoe world but will ask ena (my gal) just in case.

I am sure ena will be glad to go shoe shopping with you (twist her arm Big Grin ) one day while you are here and take you to all the best places.

Saludos,
jer...

Thanks for the feedback Jer. Big Grin Oh shopping in Madrid with a Madrilena sounds good to me. I still haven't decided on how many days to spend in Madrid this time 'round.
btw, I would use the tilde over the n but can't get my keyboard to work that way. Frowner

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my topic from last summer"Shopping for sandals" is still running. My son Niall is getting married in June this year and I wish I could buy my entire outfit in Madrid. Accesories in particular are much nicer than in UK.We are driving down to La Alujarras this summer instead of flying so I will be shopping in Madrid again. Also can't wait to spend an evening in Burledero on Echgeray(spelt wrong Jer I'm sure) I only went to Madrid en route to Soria and fell in love with it.Since then have been twice and can't wait for the next time. Is that "la Alpujarra" in Granada you are talking about when you say "La Alujarras " ? I was there years ago hiking and I absoultely loved it Smiler

Close, that is "El Burladero" at "Echegaray" # 19 but what's in a vowel Wink If you go for a drink, look me up (via e-mail or a private message) before you come and I would love to meet ya Big Grin

Ok you are excused for showing off, its your party, you're entitled. Sorry for the spelling mistakes (zpellung miztookz), Patricia is not well with a grumbling appendix so she's asked me to reply, so I am here impersonating her. (I'm George, the other half of the partnership)

Yes the Alpujarras are fantastic, we were there in January, sun, good food, good wine (you have to lay off the wine tho' if you're driving on those roads, particularly after dark). We fell in love with the area around Cadiar in the East(Central) Alpujarra, especially around Yator and Yegen, having read some Gerald Brenan books (not just South from Granada) it really helped to set the scene. I wish I had discovered it 20/30 years ago! In those days I was in love with the remoter parts of Wales or Scotland, but this part of Spain has everything on offer there (except the rain!). We even tried to buy a house, but the vendor pulled out (wanted more money), it was falling down anyway, not so much a house as a bit of history, it even had the old oil bottles in the stone recesses in the kitchen, and an era on the hillside above.

Madrid was great last July - we even thought we caught sight of you Jer in the Sol one night when we were watching & listening to the Peruvians(?) playing near the fountain. Smiler

Thanks for the offer, if we get back there this summer we will call you. We picked Echegaray last year as we thought it was a good central place to stay. Can't remember the name of the Hotel but it was opposite side to Burladero closer to the main road. All the bars in that area are good and some of the Restaurants are good also. Very atmospheric & authentic (I think), but then, what do I know?

Hi George, it is quite possible, better said "probable" that you could have spotted me in Sol that night Big Grin

Next time point at me and start screaming "it's jer, it's jer!!!" at the top of your lungs Red Face

Hope to meet you soon!

Saludos,

Still recovering from this grumbling appendix thing and can't sleep so thought I'd be on Spanish time for a while. I cannot understand why I make so many spelling mistakes when posting on the board,I'm not stupid but the mistakes are. Probably because it's usually the middle of the night, the rooms in darkness and I'm tired. If I were in Madrid I could just go out on the town and it would be perfectly normal to be up all night! I obviously live in the wrong place, the sooner we buy our house in Spain the better.Don't think La Alpujarras has much night life though but who cares. Wink

Hey Patricia, we all make those mistakes but we like to refer to them as "typos" rather than spelling errors Big Grin

I chalk mine up to being tired or trying to type to fast.

I don't know about that, those "Alpujarreos" can get pretty wild Big Grin
