Finally, returning to Spain at the end of November for 12 days. Going horseback riding for a week at a place between Carmona and Seville (Epona Equestrian Center). I did a search of this website and couldn't find any postings of consequence about places to ride, but I thought I would ask if there are any riders in jer's group that might answer questions like "what's the best tack store in Seville?" Is anybody else interested in riding and want more info (pre or post trip)? Epona is primarily a dressage place, we do get to visit "la escuela real" in Jerez, as well as the Doana (on horseback) and a yeguada.

jer, in the next few days I'll be sending in my request for the dual cell phone deal, and some internet connection help.

Ernie:
Sounds like you're in for a very cool vacation!
I don't do dressage, but I am an endurance rider. One of the most memorable (and exhausting!) 10 days of my life was a trail ride from Gredos, in the mountains outside Avila, down to Trujillo in Extremadura, following the cattle trails (canyadas) along the Picos. The whole thing was arranged by a guy named Jesus at Equitours Spain, an outfit attached somehow to the Gredos Parador.
This has been a good eight years ago, but I"m sure he's still there. It's a really class outfit, an amazing trip over some back roads and medieval-type towns and wildlife refuges even Jeeps couldn't travel.
If anyone ever wants to attempt something like this, I can dig out his info. And I'm sure Jesus does the usual day-rides as well, for the less masochistic.

Actually equitours.com is where we found epona, and a "gredos mountain" ride is still an option. It starts at and returns to the parador. My goal is to build enough fitness to do that ride in 2006.
