Hey Cotorrita_Stacey, congrats on nagging your parents into submission
A lot of questions in that post there, I will do the best I can.
Salamanca is hot in July but not quite as hot as in August (close though) but it packs out with foreign students nonetheless as it is a truly beautiful and amazing city

I would say that the "oven" turns on in mid-July(ish).
Dressing in light colors will make things more bearable, not to mention drinking lots of cool Sangra
I would say pack as you would for Madrid. Do not worry about standing out there for during Salamanca suummers, the SPANIARDS are the minority and hence the opnes that stand out
Tank tops will scream "guiri" but they are acceptable in the heat otf the summer. The Spaniards are very fashion conscious and no matter how hot it gets, they prefer to be "fashion" than comfotable.
You heard right about jeans.
I myself am a HUGE GAP FAN so I would always recommend their clothes, for anywhere.
Cotton is good as it breathes and you will need that.
I have never shopped for clothes there myself but being such a huge University town, Salamanca will have many of the same stores as Madrid or any other city.
If you do a
SEARCH ![[search]](graemlins/search.gif)
for "shopping for clotheing" at my
SEARCH PAGE, you will get some good results.
Amongst others, the thread at
www.multimadrid.com/ubbgrfx/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=000066 will lead you to other threads on clothes shopping.
Also, try doing a
SEARCH on "Salamanca" and then combing through the results. I did and got a lot of good info.
Saludos,
