Hey everyone! i'm new here on multimadrid. I'm going to Spain from May 29th to June 8th. I'm going with my mom, best friend, and best friend's older sister. We want to blend in as much as possible, does anyone have any ideas of the clothing we should wear? (we're all female). If you would also please give me any ideas of castles to see or places to shop or anything else of interest that would be greatly appreciated. Thank You very much [search]

Hola Adrienne,
If you want to fit in, wear tight slacks! Also scarves. Think "elegante" coordinates. I noticed that even older ladies, like myself, wore tight slacks! I did not see a lot of jeans, but I went in December.

I am sure Jer and other mm members will give you great fashion advice.

Enjoy your trip! Smiler

Adrienne,
I'm sure everyone has lots of ideas, but it would help to know which city you're planning on staying in. Mostly Madrid? Just Madrid? or are you flying in but going to another city?

If you stay in Madrid, between everything there is to see there: Placio Real, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Ciebeles, Correos, El Retiro, El Museo del Prado, El Thiessen, Museo Reina Sofia, Atocha, La Biblioteca Nacional, El Museo Municipal, El Museo Romantico (Municipal and Romantico are in the Tribunal area-the Museo Municipal gives you a good look at Madrid WAAAAAAAY back then , and now- pretty cool. And the Museo Romantico is actually a Palacete kept the way wealthy people lived back in the day-also very cool) and TONS of other places...

There are also several places you can go that are within day trip potential from Madrid: Segovia (check out the acuaduct) eat cochinillo (very typical from Segovia, Toledo: Typical there is the art of damask (gold enlaid on the black background) and sword making, Salamanca: the cathedral and university there, El Escorial- the catherdral there also, and where the Borbon (royal family) gets buried, if you want to go a bit further out, Avila and the caves (very cool)... and PLENTY more! Smiler

The places I mentioned have easy and frequent transportation to and from Madrid Smiler

MultiMadrid members, help me out!!!!!!!!

Hi adrienne, welcome to the board Smiler

You will find it is easier to use the board and you will get better results (advice from members) if you split up your questions and post on the adequate forums.

For example, here you ask about clothing and then jump to "castles to see or places to shop or anything else of interest". That is pretty wide open and the vast majority of those on the board will get overwhelmed and probably not bother to answer.

Don't worry, you wil get used to posting Big Grin

Ok, since you opened here with clothing questions, do a [search] SEARCH ON MY SEARCH PAGE on "clothing" and you will see a ton of results, especially related to women's dress in Spain.

You will find that if you do some SEARCHES on the board, many of the things you ask have been discussed in depth.

Also, if you look at the "Madrid sights, monuments & events" section near the bottom of my HOME PAGE www.multimadrid.com/hogar.htm , you will get a great feel for what you absolutely NEED to see in Madrid Cool

Saludos,
jer...
