Ooooh, baby! Too much packin' and unpackin' for me! Friends told me gas is over $5--can you conform, Jer? Any chance you could achieve the same goals returning to a home base nightly? Or,you know, maybe change bases once? To me, one of the best things you can do is to be in one place long enough to become a sort of "regular". Otherwise, it's a lot like seeing the whole trip as a high speed travelogue. My opinion: take buses, along with the local folks, or trains, or anything but encapsulating yourself in a car! Glad to know you love SPAIN, it's the home of my heart!
Pack light, sleep cheap, eat well.

Hi Sue re; your trip regarding local transport, it's what we do, a great way to travel. Spain's transport system is so very efficient- and cheap, we never cease to be impressed actually, we've been very lucky so far. With regards to packing and unpacking - I'm used to it! it's not difficult in Summer. When in Spain, I like to see as much as I possibly can, taking chunks at a time. Glad you took time to read my corr. chiara xx

Aaaaahhhhh!!! The memories!!! Your trip to Spain sounds like it will be an awesome whirlwind of an adventure this summer Chiara. I also love the public transportation of Spain, so very efficiente and cheap-ooooo. Your trip plans bring back memories of about 6 years back when I spent 2 and a half months of the summer backpacking around Spain with my ex. We did a northern and southern route with a little rest in Madrid in between and by the time we were through we had seen over 50 cities and towns in this amazing country + a little bit of Portugal as well. It was the summer after our academic year abroad program in Madrid and we decided to stay in Spain and see EVERYTHING instead of doing the Eurorail thing and seeing Europe. Oh the cheese sandwiches and state youth hostals, what memories. Saw and did it all that year from the "Fallas of Valencia" to the San Fermines of Pamplona I could go on all night! Have an amazing trip, jer...
Excuse me for being nosy, but your "ex" what? I hope your passion for Spain didn't wreck an actual marriage(mine almost has!) I have never done the BIG trip, but here's a hostal and sandwich memory: when I was in Bilbao last year, they had a machine that dispensed TOASTED ham and cheese sandwiches. I bit down on a piece of bone or gristle and split a molar smack in two!

jejeje! Not to fear Sue, twas my ex-"novia" ("girlfriend" in Spanish for you learners) and not "mujer" or "esposa" ("wife", *mujer* in Spain and *esposa* in Latina America, once a teacher always a teacher !). As for that split molar, it could have been worse, could have split in 3!!! Must have been an American vending machine, the Spaniards would never invent such a horrible dispenser of fast "jamn" ("ham") . On the happy side, my current "novia" is a true-blue Madridlea so no risk of losing her due to my love Spain, just the oposite! jer...
