Will you be enrolling him in a Spanish language program? How could he relate to a Madrid gato if he only speaks english? What if he takes up with a bunch of "kit-tanos" and hangs out on the corners prowling for change? You know, he comes from a "Purr-itano" country and may not be able to make friends easily...... :jeje:

ToniG, that was classic :jeje: :jeje: :jeje:

Aside from Rocco's inhuman comments above Eeker , I think the whole question of whether to move an animal over is a good one but only an animal lover can really see the light here.

Back in USA, we adopted a cat when I was 2 yrs old and she passed away from natural causes when I was 20 Frowner

Yes, 18 WONDERFUL years with "Alathea" (her name) and I would have given most anything to take her with me if I had come over to Spain while she was with us.

Saludos,
jer...

18 years! Whew, thats an attachment. My first cat died at 17 and we got him when I was 4, so I think I know how you felt. Next cat lived for 14 years, and died just over a year ago. Now we have Dewey, about a year old now, and were in love with him. Still having trouble finding a shelter or refuge for homeless cats here, so we can get a playmate for Dewey. Am thinking well ask some vets.

Get a spare cat Eeker Eeker Eeker I could never replace Harrie and Hattie (both girls, bad info when I first got them, very embarrassing at vets for "the" op!) and they are getting Spanish lessons right now!

You can never replace a cat . . .

. . . but the idea of sponsoring a burro is cool. It would be pay back for all the poor donkeys that had to carry me along the beach when I was a little girl.

:ks: :ks: :ks:

Glory, glory to the hibees . . .

Funny that you are all talking about gatitos because we just adopted a kitten this past weekend and are already starting to think about how to "emigrate" our little Loco to Spain when we make the big move. I wish we could bring him with us on our laps on the plane...he hates car rides so I can imagine how he will do on a BA plane! Eeker

I wonder......is there also lots of paperwork and long waits for permissions to move an animal into Spain? Where does one apply for a pet visa? :jeje: El Consulado General de Animales Domsticos?

Saludos.....

Maybe you can enroll your native English Speaking cat in an intensive Spanish course or 4 week TEFL program so that it can possibly eek out a living in Madrid and contribute to the household? Big Grin
I hear that some programs guarantee English teaching hours in Madrid after their course. Wink

or it could always take up working on the metro, playing some sort of instruments, singing on the shoulder of a Peruvian band member, or traveling with gypsies, holding plastic pretend kittens...either way!
