I was going to leave on the weekend but the ticket was like 50$ more. The thing that sucks about the visa is that since I live in Queens I HAVE to go to the consulate in person. Some guy who lives in Jersey did it and he said people wait there at like 4am to get a number for when the place opens at 9. If I didn't live in the city I could just mail my documents in. SIGH. I have to apply for a letter of good conduct this week from the NYPD. I am going to go Thursday to the consulate and show them the documents I haev already and see if it's okay. This way when I go back to apply for the visa they can't deny me.
School starts November 3rd. So I hope the 2 weeks is enough to get my stuff in order.

Mike- why the multiple visits?! You can request they send you the application(which has all the information you need as per paperwork) via post mail and then only have to show up and hand it all in. You save a trip! I don't know about 4:00am! When I went to get my student visa I got there early- around 9am (when they open) yes, there were people there but I got a number (the important part) and just had to wait, wait wait. Of course I had everything I needed so it was just drop it off and then go to pick it up when its ready
In Jersey they also have a ViceConsul that can do some of the work for them. To apply for the visa- no matter where you live you have to do it in person! So you've got it easy! At the time I lived in Upstate NY!

I am making the multiple visits because I do not trust Spaniards when it comes to (sp?) administration. I have a strange feeling that if I don't have them check my documents before I actually go to apply for the visa they may find something wrong and give me the typical indifferent attitude. This way I want them to check it before so that they can't find anything wrong later.
Some guy who is going to school with me is from jersey. He applied for a student visa 2 years ago. When he got to the consulate he said people had been sleeping outside since 4am so they could get a number for when they open at 9am. He got there at like 8:00 and all the numbers had been given out. But because he lives outside of NYC he can just mail in his paperwork. They checked all his documents and made him send the stuff in.
Anyway I'm taking off Thurs and Fri. for vacation so I won't be doing anything besides sitting home and watching Jerry Springer
