i know you only have 3 days to spend but you may wnat to take the asturias & picos de europa route at www.totallyspain.com/itin_11.asp and just cut it down to a 3 day trip on your own.
i recommend either asturias or cantabria, maybe a combination of the two.
march is still cooold up there so if you want warmer weather, head for ronda.
Thanks alot folks ! Me busy surfing the rec sites!!! Jus couple more queries... in March, how cold would these places be? And in comparison....which region would offer more lush green hills/mountains/valleys? Thank You!!!

I would bet that in March the south could be pretty green, specially Cceres area, the Jerte Valley, Monfrage ... someone could confirm this? Or maybe it depends on how it rained?

In Jerte/Monfrague, you're still at high altitudes. It rains a lot in early spring, and at night it's COLD..down into the 40-F range, raw and windy. But in March it's starting to go green here and there. Best to wait till April or May, when the cherry trees blossom -- or June, when the fruit are abundant! The countryside around Caceres is flatter and always somewhat wild; more brushland than the lush green our friend is thinking of. For lush and green, I say go to southern Galicia, maybe round Tui. Yeah, it rains buckets, But it's green all the time. Perhaps along the Cadiz/Jerez coast? Who knows that area?

From personal experience, I can advise you to stay in the southern parts until about may, it's still bloody cold in the north going into march. Go and tour the Costa verde in summer.
There's some interesting & useful info on this site, about many areas around Espaa, and in english.
If you go to Cantabria and like hiking, I highly reccomend walking from San Vicente de la Barquera to Comillas along the Oyambre nature reserve. It had the most incredible views Ive seen in my life. It took me about 4 hours and I did it in the unbearable heat of August so itd probably be much easier in March.
Have you considered going to Galicia?

Perhaps along the Cadiz/Jerez coast? Certainly down south you will find Spring arrives early. In fact the Almond blossom is already out and the bright yellow buttercups are adding colour to the green fields of Andalucia. March is the month when the wild flowers are really wild ! to get some with lush green mountains/hills/valleys though you will need to head towards the hills. If you are in Granada then why not go south through the Sierra towards the coast and head for the Alpujarra area then down to the coast at Nerja to see a largely British 'enclave'. If you decide to come down to Cadiz province then the hills east of Jerez will be enjoyable. Head for Arcos de la Frontera and maybe see some of the 'pueblos blancos'. Also from Seville, all these white washed villages are accessible. Nige
