anyone want to join me on operación bikini?? i gained two dress sizes last year and god knows how many kilos.
so friday, i went to an endocrino and am on a hard-core 3week diet after which i will return for my blood analysis and a diet suited for my particular needs.
since friday, i have already lost 1.5 kilos!!!
now i must add, i have never, ever, ever dieted. this is new territory for me. i am a hedonist by nature and the idea of "no" makes me crazy. BUT...i am actually liking the challenge and 3 weeks isn't so bad.
basically for three weeks, i must eat five meals with lots of veg, fruit, lean meats, salads, fatfree yogurt, etc.
i can't eat for three weeks: bread, potatos, pasta, rice, legumes sugar, honey fried things canned things in oil oil that is not olive and other stuff.... (oh, no alcohol either....but i gave in to two cañas on la latina sunday!)
anyway, if anyone else is dieting, maybe we can have some mm moral support here.

Count me in! I put on a few extra pounds and am working on getting rid of them. I am doing lots of salads, but without the fatty dressings that one finds in the US. Doing olive oil and vinegar. I hold my head in shame after seeing what I used to look like in Spain, but then again, I walked everywhere in Spain. Have to get back to being active.
Thanks for the list Candy.

That happened to Christian big-time. He gained more weight than I did when I was pregnant!
I can't jump on the diet bandwagon (though I probably should, but no cañas means no free tapas, and that just breaks my heart), but if you want to go on some long hikes or walks, definitely count me in.
When I was trying to lose weight after Oscar was born, I used tiny quantities of chocolate and nuts to drive away the hunger (not sure if the endocrino would approve).
1.5 kilos is over 3 pounds!!!

You are on to something about the small amounts of chocolate. Now that I am back home, my mom keeps sweets in the house and she makes a 7-up cake to die for. I have just a small slither each night and I am fine with that. Just one peppermint patty satisfies my craving for a sweet.
I have to start being active again like I was in Spain and I really miss the gym and how I felt great and slept better at night. We can do this, peeps.

Sign me up, particularly for the long walks. I did a lot of walking this spring training to do the last 115km of the Camino de Santiago but that is over and done with and I've stopped the long walks and put on some weight so I'm trying to get back on track and so I can fit into an lbd for Candy's wedding! Shawn-- You're making me homesick. I think it's worth a michelin or two just to enjoy mama's cooking... I miss my mom's biscuits and always perfect pie crust!

Candy,
I really have to get back into the swing of things again, but I have no energy here in the US, especially where I live. Richmond, VA is so boring and has very little to offer for young singles.
When I walk here, there's nothing to see and it's not like Madrid where you can really enjoy the sites ot some good people watching. I will get the strength again soon, I hope, but time will tell. If I want to walk outside of the complex where my parents live, guess what? No sidewalks, which can make for a very dangerous walk.
Enjoy your long walks.
