I sincerely hope you're joking, if not then it's a ridiculous thing to say.
We need rain in Madrid and much more of it before the summer, to replace the depleted water levels in the various reservoirs around the city, if not there could well be a serious drought problem this summer.
Also don't forget it's still Spring and May in Madrid is well known to be quite a wet month, at least at the start anyway.
As for the greenery, IMO fantastic, the more the better, one of things I miss most about the UK is the greenery and the countryside, I'm certainly not a fan of the brown barren landscape that surrounds parts of Madrid.
i am pretty sure THM was joking but give him a break, he has only been here a short time and probably knows very little or nothing about the water problems in spain.
A chance of a drought this summer? I hope that Madrid does get enough rain to fill the pontanos. I lived through a drought in Puerto Rico and it's not fun.
If only I could send some of the rain that we are getting in VA your way.

Actually I don't mind the green it's a nice change from the brown. What I really mind is when it's cold wet and rainy here and hot and georgous up north. It's been a really wierd year for weather in Europe, cold in Spain hot and sunny in Germany and England. Even people down south are complaining about how cold it's been.
I've heard a few people coment about how the relatives in England have been out in T shirts and shorts while we've been wearing jackets and jeans.
Soon enough the heat will come and we'll all be complaining about the heat.
What i do find odd is that everyone still waters the lawn inspite of drought of the last few years. When I got my water bill I found out why, it's dirt cheap here.

The spring in Madrid is notorious for being unstable as far as weather, you can have 25 degrees C in February or early March and then have it snow in May, I have seen this myself. Hang in there THM, sometime in June things will change for the warmer and then you'll be wishing for rain, or at least will be very grateful to see green instead of brown as has been the case when we've had droughts and no rain during the spring. Like the Madrid saying: "hasta el 40 de mayo no te quites el sayo" which translates loosely to: until the 40th of May (June 10th for those that are mathematically challenged like myself) don't take off your cape. That's why mm volleyball doesn't start until June, because Jer knows that in May we can still get all kinds of weather and would end up with more cancellations than it's worth.
So true, Lena. I think THM posted without realizing what he actually said and how it could have been misinterpreted. Green is good in my opinion and so is rain. I look forward to summer in Madrid again, not so much the heat, but to be back in a place that I love.
