Ok, this is lamp news. I have just consulted with my electrician about the three lamps I brought with me from the States. I was using a voltage converter and he showed me that with lamps (and lamps ONLY, NOT other appliances) there is no need to convert the current as long as you are using a lamp bulb bought here that works on Euro current. All you need is the plug adapter and there is no problem with the current. BUT you cannot use a lamp bulb that is U.S. current-that will blow out. The wire that connects the plug to the lamp bulb is universal and is the same here as in the States. As long as the current coming through that wire and the bulb it is going to are the same current there is no need to convert anything. So now I have three voltage converters I will not need. Will post those soon in the classifieds..... big grin

Yes, I know, and feel free to move this thread there if that seems more appropriate-I couldn't remember WHERE that thread was. The reason that I posted this is that I had read that thread in detail (as well as plagued you with additional questions), but never came across this piece of information. I wanted to save anyone moving lamps to this country the time and expense of researching and buying and shipping voltage converters, as I did. big grin

hey Wendy.

i agree to leave this as a separate thread. that is why i edited the title of this thread to "American lamps in Spain" big grin

that way, anyone searching for info on lamps will find it right off with a search.

if you do a search on "american electronics", the other thread comes up righ away.

saludos,
