I don't like football, BUT my husband does and since he likes all things spanish too he's a great fan of Real so how do you think he spent yesterday Saturday night ....you've guessed it ...all glued up to the TV watching the champions win. And what a win that was ! no seriousely , I can't not be so pleased for REAL - the club, the guys themselves and all those 'locos por el real'
out there! my husband included. How can I not be pleased for this great team. I would have loved to be at Cibeles yesterday night to watch all of them frolicking in the fountain. A couple of days ago some men were actually cleaning the fountain ...to get it ready for the victory, I suppose. I watched this on the news on TVE. Well that's all for now - Enhorabuena a todos los Madrilistas ( obviously I have great respect for Atletico Madrid as well ) love to all Chiara xxx Smiler Wink Big Grin

Hi Chiara. Funny you should mention soccer, I absolutely "dislike" (hate to use the word "hate" Wink ) the sport ever since I left the U.S.A. I used to watch sometimes when I lived in NY and even during my first year here in Spain but I think that the ridiculous amount of hype given to "ftbol" over here has made my turn against it. I still get excited at times and watch parts of championship matches, like the other night when Bayern of Munich beat Valencia in the UEFA final, but if I watch 10 minutes of soccer every 4 months it is a lot. The problem is that it is everywhere here and it is practically the ONLY sport we see. Good thing I have Eurosport on cable for a change of pace once in a while. You should see the news here in Madrid for example, each newscast starts with a brief announcement about the day's matches, aaaaaaaaaaarrrgghh! There is no escape Razzer ! It would not be so bad if they did not spend half of the 30 minute newscast talking about "ftbol" but they go way to far. They even go as far as to take coverage away from real newsworthy events in order to lenghten the soccer coverage.
just my opinions, jer...
