So Steve Savage is finishing the final touches on Chez Wendy (sorry, Casa Wendy)-remember, it was pink? We would like to get a buffing machine for the floors, but need transport to get it from the placey place to the house. Anyone have a van or large enough trunk we could fit a buffing machine in? (I assume it's like a really big vaccuum cleaner). We have to rent it for the day, so after Steve buffs my floors, he could come do yours! Anyone?

I was just gonna post the same message, Wendy. I hope you don't mind me adding a few more details...
1) Monday would be a great day for floor polishing, before Maria and I take off to Lisbon for my birthday. (birthday presents accepted anytime!)
2) Yes, the machine is kind of like a large vacuum cleaner, but it can be squeezed into most ordinary cars. A Smart two-two could be a tad small though.
3)This is a machine for cleaning and polishing MARBLE floors. I'm not sure if it is suitable for other tile floors (can find out) but is ceratinly not good for timber, unless you like your timber floors with swirly patterns scratched deep into the grain. I have used this exact machine once before, which makes me an EXPERT!
4)A floor polishing company will charge around 500 Euros to polish the floors of a three bedroom apartment. I am much cheaper If you can provide the transport, I could probably do it for about a tenth of that price.. what do you say?
Any chance of changing the title of this thread to something like "Need your marble floors polished?"
Reason being that if we find someone else who wants to share the costs, it could be viable for me to rent a car for the day to transport the machine around. Wendy's marble floors will only take me half a day to polish, and I could do someone else's floors in the other half of the day, see?
Cost would be between 100 and 120 Euros (your share of the machine hire and rental car, plus my wages - could probably do three rooms in an afternoon)
Ok, Steve, the awesome painter, plasterer, all around handiest guy in town is currently celebrating his birthday in Portugal, but will be back to put the finishing touches on my flat next week. So, is anyone interested in getting in on the marble floor polishing offer before it expires????
