After having had numerous barbeques on the terrace over the past two years as well as representatives of the local bomberos showing up here last year when they thought there was a fire (long story), some nosy random vecina has buzzed up to order me to stop barbecuing-stating that it is prohibited completely. Now, I am fairly sure the firemen would have informed me of that fact, but does anyone know anything about this? Is it illegal to barbecue on a terrace in Madrid? mad

hey wendy.

if it is not illegal in the city (and i think it is), many "comunidades de vecinos" will have a clause about not allowing barbqs in the building statutes.

you should start there. find out who is the president of the comunidad and ask.

also, call on 010 (info for the madrid town hall) and see if they know if it is illegal.

saludos,
jer...

p.d. if the "nosy random vecina" is the president of the comunidad then you are probably out of luck.

has nothing to do with the country.

no right-minded country would allow Qs in the center of a major city on an apt. terrace since if a spark flies, the entire block (or many blocks) could easily burn.

Hey all,
just to throw in my comments,
it is also illegal in most U.S. cities to have a barbeque on the patio of a building or apartment complex. For the same reason Jer has mentioned, it is likely to cause a major fire. Most companies require it to be on the ground level and have nothing hanging over the area, like a roof.
