Mmm...today in the headlines on CNN there was urgent news: - Michael Jackson is called for jury duty - I don't know what I would've done without having known this. Anyhow, a question immediately popped into my head, "What happens when a person who is living abroad without legal residency is called for jury duty back in the US? Yuck!

Anyone know the procedures?

"shit outa luck" i guess would be a good answer cry

seriously though, could one not just tell them that they are abroad travelling or living abroad for an extended period of time.

after all, you could feasably be living in a european country for 3 months on the tourist allotment and then just go to another country and do the same.

how would they know what country you are in? there is nothing illegal about travelling the world and country hopping.

but i do understand your question, what are a u.s. citizens legal obligations in that situation? would one have to return to the u.s.?

saludom,
