Starting basketball practice every Sunday at 15.30. LOCATION - PARQUE DEL OESTE ( turn left off Calle Princesa ( joining Gran Via ) just past Corte Ingles and head down Calle de Marques de Urquijo and go all the way down the hill . The court is on PASEO DE CAMOENS.
1ST traing date - SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER . I've had a pretty good response , so could be a good game. If we are good enough we could enter ourselves into a leauge .

hey teflesp, sounds like fun but that is not a good location for 2 reasons...
1) it will compete with our volleyball sundays (hence i will not allow announcements for it on the board )
2) the basketball courts there are VERY taken at that time by what looks like a gang of latin americans (possibly a faction of the "latin kings") who play an odd type of vball on the courts and i have seen them and am pretty sure you will NOT want a confrontation
Hi there Jer . I decided on that location as we could then play vollyball afterwards . I thought that an hour and a half would be long enough time running around . As for the court being taken I've been checking out the court for the last two weeks and at 15.30 it has been available . So get on your basketball boots and shoot some hoops this sunday !

hope you don't mind i deleted the repeated bball threads you had started around the board. best to not repeat and keep the posts on bball to one single thread so as not to confuse peeps.
problem is that as the days become shorter, we change the volleyball starting time and move it back to 4pm. this will most likely happen by mid oct. (will post on the vball thread when the earlier start time is official). we do this when we set the clocks back (oct. 21?) as we lose a lot of daylight due to both the clocks going back and the shorter days as we head into fall/winter.
so, maybe bball would be better at 2pm to give you a good few hours before vball.
the good thing is that when vball ends (probably by mid nov.), bball can continue since it can be played more easily in colder weather.
true about the court being free at 15:30, now that i think back, those vball thugs usually started when we did, around 5 or 6pm.
Those of you comming to basketball practice this sunday and have a basketball , can you bring it with you as I think it will allow for a bit more of a practice .

good one man. as the organizer and probably someone who will always be at practice, you might want to buy a bball yourself as i did with the vball set years ago
it will be hard to have consistent games if one person does not take charge and organize/always show/bring the equipment/etc...
1st training date starts tomorrow at 15.30 . Please come along as it is a good way to keep fit and meet new people . If you arrive early just wait at the basketball court untill we arrive .

The first training day was a bit of a let down as only 5 people were there . So I think the best bet is anyone who is interested in practicing next sunday ( at 14.30 ) please post your interest here and we can see if we've got enough numbers to have a game .( I also have a post on another web site ) . So come on all you lovers of basketball get your name down

hey Rob, bball was fun on sunday, hope to make it next week too.
i have changed the name of this thread to "Madrid Basketball - All welcome" as the orignal title was a bit confusing as it looked like it was only for tefl peeps while it is open to all who are interested in playing.
since this is where you will continue to notify about gmaes and such, i thought the new title would be better.
