Hey there becks, jer here.
If I were your friend I would try to do an "Intercambio" with a native English speaking person. There are loads of Spaniards out there who are just dying to practice their English but it is admitedly harder for the Spaniards since there are a lot more of them who want to practice their English than English speakers looking to practice their Spanish. So, the native English speakers can pick and choose who they do an intercambioo with.
In case anyone is new to the idea, in an intercambio you practice a bit of one language and then the other and help each other with your native tongue. For example, your friend would speak Spanish for a while with his/her intercambio partner and then they would switch to English, it is a give and take type of thing that has been going on since the beginning of time
There are loads of intercambio ads in the monthly InMadrid Newspaper and in our (InMadrid and multimadrid) joint classifieds section at
www.multimadrid.com/classifieds and
www.in-madrid.com/classifieds
You might want to check them out!
Another good place for intercambios is FOROCIO here in Madrid on the Carrera de San Jernimo. They have a website at
www.forocio.com.
Saludos y Suerte to your friend,
jer...
p.d. intercambios are also great for making friends, I met my girlfriend through an intercambio 3 years ago
