I will be studying in Madrid next year but would like to arrive before the dormatories open up. Is there a company that I can leave my suitcases and bags with for a few weeks while I am traveling? Similar to a Public Storage in the U.S.

Good timing on this post. There is a new storage place called Spain Storage www.spainstorage.com open in the Puerta del Sol area, it is located on Calle del Correo, 4, 3-9 and is mostly for baggage and other items smaller than furniture. Let me know more about the size of the things you want to store and I will get back to you on this with pricing if it works out.
Cheers.
Rocco.

Hey absolut-ski, welcome to the board.

I also have info on the new storage service that Madrid Insider has mentioned above which promises to be all the rage and a great service for leaving stuff temporarily in Madrid.

The only difference between this new service and public storage back inthe U.S.A.is that with this service you will not have access to your stuff on ytour own, if you want to get stuff out or put it in you will have to make and appointmetn with someone to let you in. Also, it is meant for bags, suitcases, etc... (skis as well) but not furniture or other large voulme items.

Still a great service nonethless. Here is the info I have on the service so far...

quote:

Storage Fees:

1 day or part thereof:
Small Locker = 2.95/day
Large Locker = 2.95/day

From 2 to 15 days:
Small Locker = 3.95/day
Large Locker = 4.95/day

Storage from day 15...
Small Locker = 1.49/day
Large Locker = 0.99/day

One day or part thereof means any time span between the time of deposit and 12:00 a.m.
Also, pickup of items and delivery when you want to take them all out is charged for according to zones.

Zones start at the Puerta del Sol area and go as far out as the airport. For example, pick up from and delivery to Sol would run 9.95 and the other extreme, an airport pick up and delivery would be 24.95

Again, these are tentative fees and things may change since this is a new service and is in an experimantal phase due to the fact that nothing like this has been done in the city of Madrid yet.

Madrid Insider has more info available so let him know what your needs are and he can set you up.

Saludos,
jer...
