I am looking for a picture or wallpaper of La Plaza Castilla, I especially want a shot of the two towers that reach over it and create an illusion of an archway, can anyone tell me where I could find this? I also am looking for pictures of the Madrid Skyline, any suggestions?

Thank you,
Lili
P.S. Jer I love the live cam of La Plaza Mayor, it is one of my favorite places to be when I am in the city. I have it on all day, it plays on my television, my students enjoy it. It is too bad the refresh rate isn't better, I know it says every 5 seconds but I get an update every 15 minutes. Too bad we couldn't have more live cams around the city, I believe it would be a great educational tool.

Hey Lili, jer here.

Well, your wish is my command Big Grin so if you do not find a decent image of the Plaza Castilla for a screensaver before November, I will put one up as one of my new madrid desktops of the month. I need some time to take the shots though since I hqave been mostly sticking to historic and monumental Madrid till now. This will give me some good motivation to get to work on my modern Madrid sections Smiler

The skyline shot is more difficult since I do not have a hellicopter yet Big Grin I do have one arial shot of Madrid and will put it on the web soon and let you know where to get it.

So glad you love the webcam but I hope you have been viewing the rest of my site as well since there is sooooo much there. The Plaza Mayor is also my favorite place, that is why I love living here where I look over it 24 hours a day. The webcam image actually says it uses a 20 second refresh rate and not 5 secs. Not sure where you saw tghat 5 sec. deal Confused Well, I fear that if you want a faster refresh rate you will need a faster connection, I assume you are using a normal dial up since people with broadband always tell me they get a new image every 20 secs. or so. All I know is that a new image is taken and uploaded to the server every 20 seconds and the rest is up to the visitor's PC and connection.

I am however working on a streaming version of the cam which would provide for a 2-3 second refresh or even better if I can. Will keep you updated.

Thanks for introducing my site to your students Big Grin If you have not already seen them, you will love my panoramics at www.multimadrid.com/panoramics

I hear ya on that more live cams wish. Unfortunately it is very hard to do. I live here in the Plaza and my cam is on my bacony but most people do not realize how hard it is to keep a live cam on 24/7 with such a fast refresh rate (20 secs. is good compared to most live cams which update, once a minute or sometimes as slow as once a day Frowner ).

Believe it or not, I need one PC just to run the webcam on and the other I use to design with. Maybe your school district could sponser me and send some of that taxpayer money my way Wink

Saludos
jer...
